Ascendant Engineering Solutions' expertise in engineering analysis and modeling covers a wide range of specialties and industries. AES has significant experience with finite element analysis (FEA) of structures from tiny, 3" micro-gimbals for military UAVs to large blow-out preventers weighing many tons for the oil and gas industry. AES expertise using ANSYS Structural spans linear and nonlinear static and dynamic (shock and vibration) analyses for many different environments and load conditions. We have extensive experience with systems designed to operate and survive severe weapon shock.

We compliment these capabilities with thermal analysis concentrating on passive and active electronics cooling using ANSYS CFD-Flo, a computational fluid dynamics modeling and simulation tool. AES' expertise extends to motion control and precision stabilization analysis and simulations using Matlab, and Simulink, and for high-performance stabilized imaging systems, range performance modeling using NVThermIP is combined to predict overall gimbal / payload system performance. Our electrical team also conducts analyses such as signal integrity (using HyperLynx), time analysis, power efficiency, analog circuit performance (using SPICE tools), and microprocessor utilization. AES has experience instrumenting vehicles and systems to gather environmental data such as vehicle motions--angular and translational and/or shock and vibration levels needed as inputs to any analysis / modeling effort. To verify system performance once a prototype or test surrogate is developed, AES can conduct experimental modal analysis, and strain gage testing for structural / structural dynamics problems; thermography, temperature and flow measurements for thermal problems; and stabilization measurements for motion control endeavors.
